HELENA-WEST HELENA- Thirty-three second quarter points from the Helena-West Helena Central Cougars (6-3, 5-1) propelled them to a 54-7 blowout victory over the Little Rock Christian Academy Warrior (2-7, 1-5) at Cad Polk Stadium.

The two defenses battled to a stalemate for most of the first quarter until Cougar Quarterback Curly Brewer hit Anthony Lewis on a 39-yard touchdown pass to get things rolling for the Cougars and cap off a 3-play, 47-yard drive. Sagar Patel hit the extra point to give Helena-West Helena a 7-0 lead with 1:08 to go in the first quarter.
The Cougars never looked back. After forcing a Warrior punt, the Cougars went 48-yards on six plays. Keith Hays scored on a 3-yard run. Patel's PAT made it 14-0 with 10:49 to go.
On the ensuing possession, Aswad Allen intercepted an errant Warrior pass and returned it fifty yards for the score. Patel nailed the PAT to make it 21-0 with 9:56 to go in the first half.
After forcing a turnover on downs at the 32-yard line, the Cougars needed only four plays to cover 68 yards. Brewer capped off the drive with a 19-yard pass to Malik Arnett with 5:29 remaining before the intermission. The PAT was blocked, leaving the score at 27-0 in favor of Helena-West Helena.
On the next possession, Cougar defensive lineman Shrone Martin recovered a Warrior fumble. On the next play. Brewer found Lewis for a 64-yard scoring strike with 3:20 remaining. Patel's PAT pushed the Cougar lead to 34-0.
On the third play of the ensuing possession, Cougar Defensive Back Markese Williams grabbed an interception and returned it to the Warrior 7-yard line. Brewer hit Sandy Wright on the next play for the score with 1:51 remaining. Patel's kick was wide left and the Cougars led 40-0 at the break.
With a running clock in the second half, the Cougars got a 35-yard touchdown run to cap off a five-play, 50-yard drive with 4:52 in the third and a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown by Williams with 7:46 remaining in the game. Patel's two extra points made the score 54-0.
The Warriors avoided a shutout with Toulo Amole scampered 39-yards for a touchdown against the Cougar back-ups with 4:06 remaining in the game. Brooks Boshears kicked the PAT to make the final 54-7.
