Eliza Miller Primary Named "Achieving School;" Test Scores Up At Every School in HWHSD

Cougars Doing Well In The Classroom
HELENA-WEST HELENA- Test scores improved at each and every school in the Helena-West Helena School District last year and Eliza Miller Primary's improvements qualified the school for designation as an "Achieving School" according to state standards.

District officials gave the credit to the hard work done by its instructional staff in the various schools and pledged to continue to work to build on the improvements and momentum as the new school year begins.

In addition to the improvements that catapulted Eliza Miller Primary to such a distinguished designation, Eliza Miller Elementary met Achieving levels in Literacy and just barely missed the designation in Math.  Central High School is no longer a priority school according to the state designations due to the improvements made there.

This news comes on the heels of other great news on the academic front for the HWHSD.  The district had the best college success rates of any high school receiving public funds in Helena-West Helena for students receiving state funded scholarships that graduated in 2011 and 2012, showing that Central High School is doing the best job in the city at preparing its students for college.

It's been a good year to be a Cougar.  Central High School is the only high school in the city not on academic probation.  Central High School had the best college success rate in the city.  All of the schools have seen test score improvements and now Eliza Miller Primary is an "Achieving School."
