Cougars Win 7-on-7 title

WEST MEMPHIS- After the thunderstorms forced the Cougars to leave the
friendly confines of Cad Polk Stadium and drive to the home of the West Memphis Blue Devils, the Helena-West Helena Central Cougars went 5-1 on the road and won the year's last 7-on-7 event.

The Cougars celebrate in West Memphis!
The Cougars secured two victories over the 7A Blue Devils by scores of 22-8 and 15-13. Helena-West Helena defeated Wynne 29-6, Forrest City 18-13, and Trumann 24-8. The only loss of the day came on a nailbiting 17-15 outcome against East Poinsett County. Cougar Head Coach Russell Smith was pleased with his team's performance saying, "We have been working hard all summer. The 7-on-7 schedule gives us some time to work specifically on skills in the passing game. I was pleased with how our guys responded. We still have a lot of work to do before the season gets here, but we should have an exciting team for our fans to come watch play." Helena-West Helena will open the season September 6 on the road at Dollarway. A scrimmage against Blytheville is set for August 30.
