Holder Wins By 24 Votes over Jarrett; Full Election Results

Vivian Holder will be seated at the city council table on or after January 1, 2013 as the new representative of Ward 5 in Helena West Helena. Holder's efforts with door to door and person to person campaigning proved to be enough to outpace veteran council member Marvin Jarrett. Holder and Jarrett faced off two years ago and Jarrett won by a margin of less than 24 votes. Both candidates have significant ties to the Ward and are well credentialed.

In the election news, the Election Commission has met and counted all ballots deemed legal by the commission. That means no more ballots will be counted except some military absentees which can legally arrive up to 10 days after the election. According to our research, there are only eight (8) outstanding military ballots. No race is likely to be changed by those eight ballots.

The election commission will meet in a timely and lawful way and certify these results soon.

Here's a breakdown of all contests and issues which appeared on the Phillips County General Election Ballot on November 6, 2012:
