HELENA-WEST HELENA-The Helena-West Helena Booster Club and Delta Force 3 have reached an agreement that will get Cougar Basketball on the radio for the first time in over 30 years.

Go Cougars!
The Cougars have a schedule that includes two holiday tournaments on tap, including one tournament at the Cougar Gymnasium.  The schedule features several regional opponents which should draw considerable fan interest.  Central will kick off the season against the Marvell Mustangs on November 16.  Barton and KIPP are expected to play in the Cougar Holiday Classic December 26-29.  The Cougars also face off against traditional rival Forrest City on December 7.  Conference play in the 5A-Central will start in January.

Cougar Basketball is back with KCLT 104.9
Booster Club Secretary Andrew Bagley was ecstatic when making the announcement saying, “This is a huge step forward for our program and something that we had been working toward for several years.  We are excited about Cougar Hoops being on the air, giving Helena-West Helena Central the only basketball broadcast in the region.”

Bagley continued, “We appreciate Delta Force 3 and its management for their support of Cougar Athletics and the Helena-West Helena School District, and we appreciate them taking this step to raise the profile of Cougar Basketball.”

Athletic Director Russell Smith was happy to see Cougar Hoops on the air.  He said, “Any time we can get exposure like this it is good for our athletic program.  It has been good for our football and it will be good for basketball.  I am excited and thankful that our boosters and Delta Force 3 have worked out something that is great for the Cougars and the community.”

The school district’s administration was also pleased.  Superintendent Suzann McCommon said, “We thank the members of our Booster Club and the ownership of Delta Force 3 for working together to provide this coverage to our team.  This is good for our kids, our community, and our schools.  I want to encourage the community to support this new broadcast and to come out and support our teams.”

Coach Willie Jackson expressed optimism about the upcoming season saying, “We were very close to making the state tournament this year.  We are entering a new conference, and I believe we will compete well."
