JACKSONVILLE- Jacksonville (2-2, 1-0) intercepted six Helena-West Helena passes on the way to a 35-0 victory.
Helena-West Helena's defense shut down Jacksonville on the first possession and forced the Red Devils to punt. However, on the third play of the ensuing possession, Jacksonville intercepted Helena-West Helena on the first time, but Jacksonville was unable to convert the turnover into points.
After the exchange of a couple of punts, Kevin Richardson got his second interception of the night and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown, John Hermann kicked the PAT to put the Red Devils up 7-0 with 5:10 to go in the first quarter.
Braylon Terry picked off a Cougar pass for Jacksonville on the ensuing possession. Three plays later, Lamont Gause scored on a 5-yard run for the Red Devils with 1:23 to go in the first quarter. Hermann kicked the PAT to make the score 14-0.
Helena-West Helena turned the ball over on downs to start the second quarter. With 10:05 to go in the first half, Quarterback Reggie Barnes hit Richardson for a 30-yard touchdown strike on a 4th and 10. The play capped off a 5-play, 48 yard drive. Hermann kicked the PAT to make it 21-0.
After forcing the Cougars to punt, Richardson scored again with 7:01 to go in the first half on an 11-yard touchdown run. Hermann kicked the PAT to make it 28-0, which was the score at the intermission.
Jacksonville rounded out the scoreing with 3:29 to go in the first half with Barnes hit Richardson again for a 38-yard touchdown pass to cap off a 9-play, 69-yard drive. Hermann's PAT put the mercy rule in effect, making the final score 35-0.
