Morris Named Valedictorian; Accepts Full Scholarship to Vanderbilt

HELENA-WEST HELENA- Devin Morris, the Valedictorian of the 2012 class at Helena-West Helena Central High School, has accepted a full scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University in the fall.

The scholarship, which will include tuition, fees, and room and board, was announced on her mother's Facebook page over the weekend.  Vanderbilt, located in Nashville, TN,  is one of the most highly regarded universities in the country.


Morris is the daughter of Synetra Morris, a long-time teacher in the Helena-West Helena School District.  She is the granddaughter of Loistyne Burrell, who recently retired after 49.5 years of service as a teacher and the HIPPY director in the Helena-West Helena School District.

Congratulations to Devin, a high achieving Cougar and another example of the great things being accomplished by students within the Helena-West Helena School District.
