Diamond Cougars open season with impressive victory in double dip

The Central Cougars opened the 2012 season on Monday night by splitting a doubleheader at Gene Bearden Stadium. In game one, the Cougars defeated Little Rock McClellan by a score of 16-3. The Cougars used a combination of timely hitting and aggresive base running to go up on McClellan. The offense was backed by a strong pitching performance by Keyshawn Simpson. In the nightcap, the Cougars took on Palestine-Wheatley. The Cougars were able to keep the game close until a four run seventh inning by Palestine-Wheatley. The Cougars fell by a score of 11-2.
