Uppity -- Does it Have a Special Racial Meaning?

There has been much discuss about race and politics in this country since President Barack H. Obama became president. Certainly, there was discussion of the issue prior to his ascendancy. However, the question on the minds of many is are we in a "post racial" status in this country? Does race matter? Do you know "Uncle Remus?"

Rush Limbaugh referred to Michelle Obama, wife of President Obama, aka "The First Lady," as "uppity."  See What's Wrong with uppity?

While we are at it and you have time off from work, how do you response to this statement:

I am voting for: whoever the black candidate is. How do you feel about that statement? Is it racial? Is it racist? Is there a difference? What if the adjective were changed from black to white, gay, democrat, republican, independent, wealthy or tall?
