HWHPD Chief Wallace Sued by Hendricks Law Firm of Little Rock

Helena-West Helena Police Chief Uless Wallace has been sued by the Brad Hendricks Law Firm of Little Rock for violations of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act regarding access to accident reports and the amount of fees that can be charged.

The lawsuit alleges that Wallace's actions violates the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act and the terms of a settlement agreement from a previous lawsuit filed by the law firm against the City of Helena in 2001 over the same practices.

The lawsuit contends that Wallace repeatedly, despite repeated efforts by the law firm, either by himself or through directives to his employees prevented the lawsuit from accessing public records, specifically accident reports, despite the law's clear wording, attorney general's opinions, and Supreme Court precedent.

The complaint asks for attorneys fees and compensatory damages to the law firm since the City violated its previous settlement agreement with the firm.
