Officials at the iconic D.C. structure expect to reopen Nov. 12 but say repairs to the intricate masonry could take a decade to complete. In addition to the $15 million for repairs, the cathedral will seek to raise $10 million for operating expenses through the end of 2012. Go to washingtonpost.com/local for photos and video.

Earlier versions of this alert incorrectly said that the cathedral needed $25 million for repairs, and that the operating expenses would cover through the end of June.
