Headline: U.S. stocks soar, up about 3 percent
Stocks rallied Monday afternoon after French and German leaders pledged to aid banks in Europe.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 284 points or 2.5 percent at about 1:25 p.m. The S&P 500 index rose 34 points or 3 percent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq was up 77 points or 3.1 percent.
