Elaine Man Dies in Tractor Trailer Accident

Helena-West Helena --- The Arkansas State Police has issued a report (Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary) that one man was killed on Highway 20 South on Friday, August 26, 2011 in Phillips County,Arkansas. The man,Mr. Anthony Swan, wasborn April 2, 1962 and resided at 500 Pecan Street in Elaine, Arkansas.

Swan was driving a 2004 model Freightliner in an eastern (toward Helena) direction on Highway 20 and failed to negotiate a left hand curve. The truck overturned, struck the bridge railing and came to rest in a roadside ditch. The office of the Phillips County Coroner, Mr. Earnest Larry, pronounced Mr.Swan dead on the scene.

Mr. Swan's next of kin were notified and the body was sent to the Phillips County Morgue for further processing.

The report provides no explanation for Mr. Swan's failure to make the curve. However, the road condition was reportedly dry and the weather was clear. Trooper Joshua Berry investigated this accident which is the 368th fatality on Arkansas roads this year.
