Helena-West Helena --- The City Council for the City of Helena-West Helena will meet tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the city council chambers at 226 Perry Street. According to the agenda, found on the city council webpage, (http://www.helenacitycouncil.com), the city council will hear the city treasurer's report while dealing with the city's K-9 (canine) police officer, a demolition permit, and a mechanical code ordinance. The mayor will provide an update on the ongoing search for a person courageous enough to take the helms as chief of police in Helena West Helena. Finally, the city attorney is expected to give an opinion on the Second Saturday's request for a permit allowing free wine to be provided during the event.

If you cannot attend the meeting, you can hear it when it is re-broadcast on KJIW 94.5 FM at 10:05 p.m. tonight. You might catch the meeting on local television channel 12 on Thursday or Friday at 5:00 p.m. The tech savvy persons might be able to watch the meeting live on the internet over the live streaming link provided by James Riley of Videomasters. He manages the video recording of the city council meetings. His link is found on the city council webpage too (Live Streaming Link).

At this point, it is unclear how the city council will address the increase of $10.00 on the water bills. The issue does not appear on the agenda. However, Alderman Marvin Jarrett has submitted some resolutions for consideration. These resolutions have not been analyzed. However, the full text of the resolutions is available on the city council webpage (http://www.helenacitycouncil.com). See also Jarrett's Proposals.

Anything newsworthy will be reported following the meeting.
