Young Mother Killed in Helena

Details are sketchy at this point, however, late yesterday evening, Crystal Rattler was shot and died from the injuries sustained. She was in the North Helena area of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. The Helena-West Helena Police Department reports that at least four young men were arrested and are being held pending investigation. No motive has been provided for this killing.

Crystal Michelle Rattler, according to Facebook, was 26. She was born February 3, 1985. She was "self motivated, independent, mother with the ambition and attitude to do anything [she] want[ed] to do!" She had over 500 facebook friends and believed in the Holy Trinity "Father, Son and Holy Ghost." She was in town visiting. She was living, it is said, in central Arkansas around Jacksonville. She did study Clinical Lab Science at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She loved music. She loved to read novels, especially Eric Jerome Dickey's books. She was fond of her television crime mystery shows including 48 Hours, Law & Order, Cold Case Files and CSI. Crystal reportedly loved her family and friends with all her heart.

Shots rang out. No reason has been given. She was not the intended victim. We have made calls to the local law enforcement agencies. Few answers are being provided at this time. However, the Helena West Helena Police Department will be issuing a statement to the press later this afternoon.

Separately, we have been provided with five names of individuals who are or have been in police custody in connection with this incident. At this time we are withholding the last names in order to prevent any interference with the investigation. The first names, as provided to us by a confidential source, are Justin, Derrick, Clinton, Eddie and Cedric.

As more information becomes available, we will update this new article.
