The staff at the animal shelter in Memphis wants to get rid of the 24 hour surveillance cameras installed at the request of Mayor A. C. Wharton.
After the city regained control of the shelter, Mayor AC Wharton announced the installation of the 24-hour surveillance cameras with public access.
"This will be the ultimate transparency," Wharton said at the time. "I want to dispel the image that the animal shelter is a despicable place where all these horrible things go on."
The animal services advisory group made the decision to make its meetings private
