LEXA - - Ms. Sherri Mallard, 44, of Lexa, Arkansas, died as a result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle automobile accident late this afternoon. The vehicle is believed to have been a late model Ford Explorer. The accident occurred about one-half mile east of the Post Office and railroad track on Highway 242. The direction of travel, as best could be determined was west towards the railroad tracks. From our reports there were no skid marks. It appears that the driver impacted the tree without an attempt to reduce her speed. The accident was at or right near the two story white home on the south side of Highway 242 West.
The Helena-West Helena Fire Department, The Phillips County Sheriff's Department and the Phillips County Coroner's office will issue reports on this matter. Upon receipt of those reports, we will supplement this posting.
