Interesting story in today's Forrest City Times-Herald, which is, unfortunately, behind a pay wall.
The Forrest City School Board learned last night that the superintendent plans to fire at least 75 people to save $2.6 mllion in the 2011-2012 school year and avoid a state fiscal distress finding. It was said that none of the 75 provides direct classroom instruction.
State figures on the district website showed the district had 3,172 students and the equivalent of 281 full-time employees, with an operating budget around $40 million.
