| DEADLINE EXTENDED! Great American Cleanup in Arkansas Youth Poster Contest
The deadline for students in grades K – 5 to submit art entries in the annual Great American Cleanup TM in Arkansas Youth Poster Contest is extended to Feb. 25, 2011. Keep Arkansas Beautiful (KAB) sponsors the poster contest to involve students, to increase awareness of the Great American Cleanup in Arkansas, and to educate the public about the importance of a clean and beautiful community in promoting economic development and environmental quality of life. "Every year that we've sponsored an art contest, we've been impressed by the inspired creativity of Arkansas' youth," said Sarah Wruck, volunteer services coordinator for KAB. "This contest not only gives children an opportunity to use their imaginations, but it also makes them more aware of the importance of keeping their hometowns clean and green. We're looking forward to seeing what the kids will create this year." Schools across the state are encouraged to involve all students in grades K – 5 in this educational art contest. Home-schooled students, 4-H clubs, Scouts and other youth organizations are also invited to submit entries in the competition.
Posters entered in the contest should depict an Arkansas that is clean and green with flowers and tress planted, parks and public areas cleaned up, trails built, downtowns improved, and litter picked up. The artwork should be two-dimensional and can be in any medium (pen and ink, watercolor, crayon, marker, pencil, etc.). Entries must be on standard 8½" x 11" paper. Posters must be received no later than Feb. 25, 2011, and should be mailed or delivered to: c/o Keep Arkansas Beautiful One Capitol Mall, Suite 4A-007 For more information about the contest, Sarah Wruck, call her at 501-682-3507 or 888-742-8701 (toll-free), or .
