ARKANSAS STATE OFFICES CLOSED THURSDAY IN LITTLE ROCK METROPOLITAN AREA

LITTLE ROCK - With the heavy snow freezing overnight and little, if
any, melting expected tomorrow, Governor Mike Beebe has ordered Little
Rock area state offices to remain closed on Thursday.  Decisions about
other state offices will be made by agency directors and area
supervisors.

Governor Beebe released $25,000 from the Governor's Disaster Fund on
Wednesday to help the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management with
response to the winter storm.  Arkansas National Guard troops have
been on the interstates throughout the day assisting the Arkansas
State Police and helping stranded motorists.

The State of Emergency declared in conjunction with last week's winter
weather remains in effect this week.
